Project passion – Refurbing

We bought a little house by the sea,
but this little paradise needs some TLC.
Luckily, I love refurbing and am a genuine DIY person,
so everything I do will come out in a new and slightly better version.
This house needs a little colour, patterns and quirky nicknacks.
The colour scheme I'm going for is green and blue.

Revamp, reuse and add something new

Refurbing a display cabinet

A display cabinet is practical but also takes up a lot of space in a room, so you need to consider what colour you choose to complement the space.

Using Linseed oil paint

I decided to use blue as a base and wallpaper inside to make it more playful. I always add pigments to a white base and almost exclusively work with linseed oil paint. I added ultramarine, anthracite, and crimson to get this blue tone. And if you look closely, this is the same blue tone as on the wallpaper inside.
Working with this kind of paint takes patience. Even if it’s rich with pigment, it’s applied in thin layers and has a long drying time. But the result is so worth it!

Complete the change with knobs

DIY Nerd alert! I have a box with various knobs ready to be used to revamp anything from closets to cabinets and drawers. I used three different pairs for the three sections of the cabinet. I did a makeover on all three pairs of knobs to get the look I was aiming for. I buffed the metallic ones, changing the colour of the other and painting the third, and I love the result!
