Trendspotting…

So, this is how it begins: the first sign of a has-been status, the first Bitchiness-de Luxe moment…
I now belong to the ones shaking their heads and secretly hissing with dismay at the young ones.

They’re called millennials

No, I’m not saying they all are the same or useless, but this is a trendspotting so:
Young people that think being famous is the only way to be, and to be famous for being famous is as it’s always been. Duck lips, long eyelashes, hair extensions, boobs (well…boobs are old, I know), and daily make-up rituals that are more of an art form worthy of a special effects artist in the movie industry.

Finding stars

As I’m currently working with hiring people, I get a lot of applications.
Some are very ”worked” and state the purpose of the application: what job they are applying for, their ambitions and even have a CV attached. These are a pure delight to read as I get a picture of what this person would like to do and what they can bring to the company I’m representing AND, in return, tells me what the company can do for the individual.

Significance

And then we have the others….the ones that send me a selfie…a selfie with pouty lips, heavy make-up (think Kardashian), a deep v-neck top and three lines about what kind of job they don’t want and finishing it with a ”Hit me with what you got” or, my personal favourite ”Hola at me”.
I’m a firm believer in responding to all applicants. I answer back and ask what they would like to do. On those rare occasions, they respond by repeating what they don’t want to do.

Clueless

I get it. It can be hard to know what one would want to do at a young age. (it can be hard to know what one would like to do at any age)
But if you don’t have a clue, how will I? And how am I expected to present you to a potential employer with only one picture of you pouting your lips and showing cleavage? I mean, what are they going to have you do? Accounting?

No excuses

In today’s climate with #metoo, I find it somewhat disturbing to get photos of young girls in provocative angles stating they will do anything except work as a salesperson…
There will never EVER be an excuse for abuse. But I can’t – for the life of me – understand why young girls are shocked and disgusted that ”old men” or ”the ugly” look at them? They dress provocatively to attract the young men’s attention… Yes, one should be able to dress any way one wants. And yes, one should be able to express oneself however one wants. But please understand that the audience might be larger than one anticipates and might not be the ones one wants…and some of them might even be involuntary. Like me, opening an e-mail with an application for an open job position. Only to be met by a cleavage and pouty lips…

So, the Bitch de Luxe is done bitching for the moment!

Note to old bitch – Stop bitching, be more like them:
Nothing is impossible – They are cool, loud, and proud!
And You do really think they are awesome!
